Revelation

Picture is from the song "Revelation" By John Rich taken from the Book of the Bible "Revelation" Click to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yk6YPFCUaqA

I heard a story today that made me sad, it was about a young girl, her mom was telling me about it. It was at a church in a youth group, something was said, or something was done to one of her friends, and her friend had left the group, so her daughter felt that she had to leave the group as well and now wanted nothing to do with God. The whole church thing made her distrust God.

This is not a young person phenomenon, it is a huge thing because if you ask somebody at some point in time did you ever get hurt by a Christian, did someone offend you, say the wrong thing, abuse you? I think you are going to see the majority of people put up their hands.

The church has got a bad rap because of people, and you know because the church has a bad rap now God has a bad rap.

I want to make this very clear: If you got hurt by the church, if you got hurt by a Christian or someone professing to be a Christian:  I AM SO VERY, VERY SORRY. I REALLY AM SORRY - THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED, THAT SHOULD NOT BE SOMETHING YOU EVER HAD TO EXPERIENCE FROM SOMEONE WHO PROFESSES TO LOVE GOD.

CAN I ASSURE YOU, AND I WOULD STAKE MY LIFE ON THIS, GOD IS NOT LIKE THOSE PEOPLE!

God is not those people. God can never be like those people. God is God, a spiritual being. He is not a human being and newsflash....The people in the church are “people”, people like you and me, they are from all walks of life who have lived through horrendous things, hard things, they are broken people, definitely not perfect people – ever, they come from different cultures, different backgrounds. They come from hurts, abuse, pain; churches really are the congregation or the gathering of the walking wounded, who God has hopefully healed or is in the process of. If they are not healed, it is a known fact in counselling and psychologists that hurting people hurt people. I again am sorry if they hurt you. I am even more sorry if I hurt you - I am sure I have hurt a few dear folks.

God is not a people. God is not a person; He does not have those qualifications that those people do. So, if you got hurt by a church or hurt by a Christian, please do not lump God in that category. You do not have to ever darken the doorstep of that church ever again. But you do have a responsibility, to yourself, to make things right with God.

You see the God of this universe, the God that I serve, He made everything, including you. He made everything and you can blame Him for all the horrible things in your life, His shoulders are big enough to take it. But the long and the short of it is, that God does not actually owe you anything, not another breath, not another heartbeat or an explanation, there is a day where your body will die, we all will. What happens after that is up to you. You have a decision to make.

God created you to be who you are, He said that you were “good” when He created you, He said you are exactly what He wanted. He chose your eye color, your hair, your build, your smile. God was perfectly happy and content when He created you.

Right now, in the world there is a huge movement against Christianity. You see the name of Jesus for over 2,000 years has stirred up hatred, angst, condemnation, fear, unbelief, distrust, doubt. The name of Jesus Christ puts fear into the hearts of demonic beings, they know exactly who He is. Does that surprise you? At the name of Jesus Christ any demonic, occultic, physic, spiritual beings will flee, they will run, they do not want to have to deal with Jesus. That should be good news for us. You see if the demonic, the dark, the evil does not want to deal with Jesus then it is a safe bet that team Jesus is the side we should be on.

In this world there are sides: darkness and light, in this world there is good and evil, in this world these are the 2 choices: God or the devil. The Bible tells us this and that at the end of the age, when Jesus Christ comes back - there is a war between good and evil.

At this moment in time, the world, the universe as we know it is being forced to accept that darkness is good and what a bold-faced lie that is my friends. Let me explain:

I had been trying to write this blog for a long time and was looking for an “angle” or some kind of “revelation” to help me.

I got it, except it was not mine – so I am borrowing it. It started when I heard the song mentioned above: Revelation by John Rich.

I have been amazed as I drive around town whether in Northern BC or Northern Alberta how many “skulls” I see. I see skulls tattooed onto people, permanently. I see skulls on business logos, I see skulls on cars and trucks, I see skulls on the internet, I plain see skulls everywhere.

This is a business logo. I have to admit I do not share the fascination of skulls and in fact, they creep me out.

I was at a local business I frequent. It is a store that has many, many things from clothing to cards to giftware and crafts. You enter the front door and are greeted with a seasonal display of Spring or Summer and throw pillows, pictures, statues and scenes from the season. I turned around to see what was on my left and I honestly took a step backwards as there was a HUGE glass display with 6 shelves, about 8 feet long and 8 feet high and it was completely made up of skulls. Different colored ones, dark ones, light ones, red ones, glowing eye ones. I am sure my mouth dropped open at this huge display.

The woman working there was watching me, and I think she thought I “liked” the display because she was quick to let me know that the over 100 different kind of skulls I could purchase was only a small display. They had sold a lot recently and their stock was down, but more was coming in soon. They are a best seller for them.

I replied, “I find them to be creepy, I won’t be buying them,” and I quickly walked the other way.

But the most bizarre thing I have come across was when I stopped at a garage sale. I was wandering around, and I came across a wooden shelf display. On the display were numerous canning jar type bottles. I moved forward to read the labels. “Pickled bats wings”, “crow’s feet”, different herbs and plants and other animal parts. I knew IMMEDIATELY what I had stumbled upon. The whole stand was for sell, not just the individual jars. The man selling the stand must have seen the stunned look on my face and he came whipping over to tell me that this was their Halloween display. I asked how long they had lived there, and he said 17 years. I nodded and walked away to my car. I got into my car and spoke out loud: “liar”. I had stumbled upon a witch’s potion stand, these were ingredients to make “spells and potions”.

When we were in Mexico there are a lot of skulls – they and numerous other countries have a celebration called, “The Day of the Dead”, it is a festival, but the statues are around all year. It is not simply North America; it is worldwide fascination.

What is the fascination with darkness?

Potions, spells, curses, hexes, witches, tarot cards, physics – all of these have the allure, the pull of the unknown and the mystery or the alluding to power and knowledge. It plays on the human mind to offer some “insight” into the future, or the ability to change or know the future.

My days in the library were very enlightening to how the teenagers saw the occultic world and the pull it had for them. Harry Potter was simply a new route into magic, intrigue and spells. Merlin the Wizard was real and born around 540 ad. Leprechauns and fairies have abounded for centuries. But we seem to have crossed a line from “fantasy and legend” to real darkness and the world has welcomed it.

Not sure about the welcoming it?

It does not take much looking around to see that darkness has been turned up in the world. Concerts, football half time shows, the Olympics, so many venues that have been showing up a lot of demonic images and rituals right on stage. If you have not noticed this increasing in the past 5-10 years you probably have not been watching a lot of television, movies or the internet. Music artists even announce that they are witches right on stage. There are enactments with demonic entities in dances, music showing up on MTV and award ceremonies. Eminem the rapper, his 2024 songs are listed as: Lucifer, Antichrist, Evil, Road Rage. Beyonce, Madonna, Lana Del Ray, Paris Jackson to name just a few who admit to occult behaviour. It is being pushed as “normal” living.

Darkness has become mainstream, and if we see it enough and hear it enough, we will think of it as “normal”, it is trying to block out the light. When you walk into a totally black room, all you must do is light a little match and the light dispels and you can see. We only need a bit of light or be a bit of light to counteract the darkness.

Darkness has decided to normalize itself; it pushes itself into my world unrequested by me. If you read my blog, it is your choice, you know where I stand on the God issue, you chose to read it. I do not choose to watch demonic enactments, whether on commercials, or football games or at the Olympic games for heaven’s sake. I did not get a choice; it simply pops up on my screen.

The only way to combat the war between light and dark is to light my match, to shed a little light and let it be known that I will not ever think that “darkness and evil” are normal or okay. So I write about it, I talk about it, I let others know how to find the light, explain who is the light and I am not ashamed to live for the light.

I came across the song: Revelation by John Rich. He was the one of the duo of the country music group: Big and Rich. He has now signed over his own life to live for the light. He received a “download” from God of a song from the book of Revelation. He did not try to write it, the song found him via a God download and he explains that whole process in an interview. I have watched the interview twice and found it fascinating. I will put a link to the song and the interview of him talking about how it came about at the end of this blog.

What does the song Revelation talk about? It is taken from the Bible, the last book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation. It is where God tells us what the second coming of Jesus, the end of the age will be like. It  describes this time as a battle between good and evil. The ultimate battle of good and evil when the devil takes on God’s army. John Rich – graphically shows this encounter in the music video.

My friends, watch the video, and ask yourself the question: in the final battle, who do I want to win….

Good or evil?  Do I think of skulls, satanic images, witches, fortune telling, as simply “stuff” or do I see them as a means to increase the darkness in the world and treat it as “normal”,  maybe you actually think the darkness will win.

Now I may be bursting a bubble or two here, but I read the end of the book and I can tell you that in the end – God wins. There are no do overs, so you have to decide in this life, which side you are aligning yourself with, there is no gray, there is black and there is light. You choose.
